Thomas Cup, Uber Cup

Is the Thomas Cup badminton championship for team numbers man who held every two years. The name is derived from the name of the championship Sir George Alan Thomas, former President of the IBF and badminton player from England who donated the cup in 1939.

Thomas Cup is the oldest championship held by the IBF. The first championship was held in the year 1948-1949. In that year, the tournament was attended by 10 countries: Canada, Danish, English, French, Irish, Wales, United States, India, Malaya, and Sweden. Throughout its history, only three countries that had been a champion: the People's Republic of China, Malaysia (Malaya), and Indonesia.

Uber Cup, the championship teams for girls was started in 1956 and implemented in conjunction with the Thomas Cup, but beginning in 2010 the implementation of these two tournaments will be separated.

Each participating team consists of five Thomas Cup men / couples (three singles, two doubles). Defending champion Thomas Cup today is the People's Republic of China, which managed to beat Korea 3-1 in the final in Jakarta.
